John Nevison
John Nevison was not the only notorious Highwayman to be captured in Yorkshire. Dick Turpin was arrested some 55 years later at Brough by the Village Constable. He was taken to York when it was realised he was a Horse Thief. He like, John Nevison, swung on the Gallows at the Knavesmire on 7th April 1739. Today (see picture below) it is on the edge of York Racecourse and popular with Dog Walkers.
