Noel Gay (1898-1954), Lyricist and Popular-Song writer and composer of the "Lambeth Walk" was a chorister at Wakefield Cathedral in his teenage years

Noel Gay, born Reginald Moxon Armitage in Outwood. When he enlisted in the Army on July 28th 1916 he gave as his next of kin his father Harry Armitage, a Coal Factor and his address as 39 Jacob's Well Lane.
